FITC Wrap-Up Blog…..Episode 1: The Phantom Menace
Well we are about a 3 weeks removed from the festivities known as FITC and it was an amazing event from start to finish. In the following series of blog posts I will be giving insights about my time and experiences at the event. I might just even give a behind the scenes look from my time in the speakers lounge (Cue Epic Music).
DAY 1:
Well day one started for me with a quick 40 minute flight from Ottawa to Toronto followed up by an hour long bus ride to Downtown (Note to self next year fly Porter). I checked in to my hotel (Bond Place) and headed over to the Hilton to check in at FITC. While at FITC Day One I had the pleasure to attend some very creative/interesting talks but the one that stands out amongst was UX Doesn’t Exist by Kurt Krumme, I highly recommended you all check out his presentation as well as my own at http://fitc.influxis.com/archive/. After a long day of travel, not eating and having my mind blown creatively I clearly went back to my hotel and had a quite night……WRONG. I headed right to the speakers dinner where I had very interesting conversations with other industry experts. After a toast to the late Hillman Curtis (RIP Sir you were a great inspiration to many and will continue to be for many years to come.) we all headed over to the FITC Opening Party presented by Lunch at which there was tons of networking, dancing and very questionable appetizers……… Stay Tuned for Day’s 2 and 3 coming soonish.

I want to send out a huge Thank You to Mediavanta! They took me in when I needed a job placement to finish school. They have let me grow my skill set with them over the last four months and I am pleased to announce that I will be continuing to work along side Mediavanta so we can both grow (My personal skill set/ business savvy and Mediavanta as a company).
ZOMBIES?!?
In a new case study done by @Abduzeedo Map of the Dead is an online Google map that showcases everything you would need to know in case on the Zombie Apocalypse i.e (Hospitals, Airports, Gun Stores and even Grocery Stores) and with a detailed FAQ’s section and the ability to print a hard copy this is the perfect tool for any paranoid zombie fan such as myself.
As a huge fan of The Walking Dead, George A. Romero and Everything Zombie this new & creative idea has inspired me, So I grabbed my shot gun and baseball bat and headed straight to the blog to share this cool new case study so that many more can enjoy it. 
I’m hoping they release an app for the Android and iOS that will have access to this map because lets face it when It happens we probably wont have internet access for very long. I’m just thankful I don’t live in New York (see image below)

Yes that’s right yours truly will be speaking at this years upcoming FITC event in Toronto. After attending last years event I came up with an idea for a talk so I pitched my idea to FITC and they gave me a green light. I’m hoping to be able to teach some students about Proper Self Branding and Networking Skills. My Goal is to be asked to return for next years event. I love April Fools Day from having plastic wrap covering the toilet to the bizarre news story’s people post all of Facebook and Twitter. But the thing I love most about this day are Google’s Annual April Fools Pranks and This year was no exception for Google the produced 3 great videos that kept me laughing throughout the day.
